If AI Were To Take Over Completely…

I recently took to posting quite a bit on LinkedIn. I also read plenty of posts there. As can be expected Gen Z seems to be extremely smitten by AI. They argue passionately about its uses. Think of a situation where every aspect of writing is completely taken over by AI. I am talking of a situation where there is no human involvement at all. We just read books written for us by AI. Similarly think of films. Say production, direction, acting, and everything done by AI.
Gen Z argues that that would never happen. I am told AI is here only to assist us and not to replace us. Just for a minute reflect on what would happen to award festivals if this scenario comes into play. Instead of announcing that the Booker goes to Arundhati Roy we might end up with the announcement that the Booker goes to Robot AR. When it comes to movies it gets even better. You give the best music composer award to Robot AR.R instead of AR.Rahman. This, provided we name the robots after human beings.
This opens up several interesting possibilities. Robots play cricket and we watch and similarly other games too. They are already playing chess. I shudder to think of the day when all aspects of human endeavor are taken over by AI and robots and we are reduced to presenting awards to them. An alarmist theory? I am not so sure…
Very topical, Jai. I don’t completely understand AI or its uses (?) but know it’s definitely going to be a part of our lives. And being the technophobe that I am, I am not looking forward. Internet, smartphone and getting used to doing everything on apps has been a steep enough learning curve 😀
Sis, even I am resistant to change though I have been a techy all my life. I am left completely bamboozled by some of the more recent tech terminology that I hear from youngsters. They swear by it and I was also reminded by someone who read my piece that if we don’t adapt to the winds of change we are likely to get blown away. 😀 Nicely put! Ah! I am sure you will learn it soon enough, when the necessity arises.
