My Take

Love is omnipresent and can take several forms. It can be love between a man and a woman, love for animals, sibling love, or love between two people of the same sex. The list is endless. The Blogchatter Book of Love is a delectable potpourri of love stories that demonstrate love in all its glory and its many avatars. The stories are profound and analyse the emotion called love in depth. There are eighteen stories in this book of love, and though I liked all of them, a few struck a deep chord in me. I would like to briefly mention these stories and why I liked them so much.

1 Everything You Seek is in the Library by Lalitha Ramanathan

As soon as I opened the book, I was immediately greeted by this wonderful tale of love written by Lalitha Ramanathan. Anyone who reads books in the romance genre or watches rom-coms is used to the tall handsome hero walking into the marriage hall, scooping the heroine into his arms at the last minute and walking away into the sunset. No one thinks of the other chap who is left twiddling his thumbs like a fool in the Shaadi ka mandap. Lalitha portrays a moving picture of how this other chap finds love again though he distrusts the emotion after what has happened to him. This story is very different and is an enjoyable read.

2 One True Love by Supriya Bansal

This tale weaves its way through realms of the supernatural and holds us in a powerful grip till the end. The author builds a certain suspense that is palpable and intense. Building suspense in a love story is an art that the author seems to possess in ample measure. The story also demonstrates how love is extremely possessive and can also be the progenitor of powerful jealousy. A very different tale indeed.

3 A Pawsome Love Story by Chandra Sundeep

I am not a great animal lover. The best I can say regarding my love for animals is I do not mind small puppies. But this story is written with a lot of skill and even a person like me who is not very fond of animals ended up falling in love with the kitten that plays the chief role in this tale of love. This is a nicely written poignant tale of love for animals.

4 Love Across Borders by Arpita Sharma

This is a warm, moving story of two people falling in love with each other though they are separated by nationalities, religion and disapproving relatives. Described like that, it sounds like standard fare but it is written so powerfully, and feelings are brought out so subtly that it moved me.

5 The Wrong Connection by Nithya Sashi

This story starts with two people falling in love over a phone call which is a wrong connection. The tale develops gradually, and one can almost feel the strength of the bond developing between the lovers. Another thing I liked about this story is that it demonstrates the dangers of venturing abroad without sound inquiry. I also liked the open ending and the determination shown by the protagonist to venture into danger to rescue his lover.

6 Love Story By Mayuri Sharma

This is a story of betrayal. A love lost. The heroine who stands behind her lover all along the line, finds herself torn to shreds. The story ends with a lot of questions that are left for the reader to answer. A powerful and poignant tale written with a lot of skill.

7 The 3 A M Phone Call By Pritish Lalwani

This story tackles the problems faced by most parents of today when they come up against their child’s choice of a life partner. It is a very sweet tale, and I can identify with the parent’s feelings and failings. It takes a lot to come to terms with the ideas and choices of Gen Z and this fact is brought out very sensitively and with aplomb by the author.

8 Love And Loss by Aarti Punjabi

This is a fabulous story, and it pits love against doing what is right at all costs. The story is that of a married woman falling in love with someone who is closer to her in terms of interests and ideals. She has to sort out things and I loved the ending a lot.

This listing of the stories I liked by no means is a measure of the merit of the tales I have left out. It is a subjective listing of the stories that stood out in my mind after I finished reading the book. All in all, The Blogchatter Book of Love is a very fine anthology of love stories, and I enjoyed reading the book.

Conclusion:

The Blogchatter Book of Love is a fine collection of love stories written by very skilled writers and it makes very enjoyable reading. Go for it.

Rating:

I am going with a 5/5 for The Blogchatter Book of Love. It is an excellent anthology of love stories that touch the heart.
